Automation software for a new 2,000 kW refrigeration plant supplying chilled water at +2 °C and glycol at −2 °C, with four 20,000 litre stainless steel storage tanks.
2,000 kWRefrigeration capacity
80,000 LChilled storage across four tanks
24/7On-demand refrigeration for the site
The brief
A new chilled water plant producing 2,000 kW of cooling, supplying chilled water at +2 °C and chilled glycol at −2 °C. Paired with four 20,000 litre stainless steel storage tanks, the system gives the client on-demand refrigeration all day, every day.
We developed and deployed the automation software that runs it.
The plant's motor control centre
What we did
Front-end development for the operator interface
An overall system view of the whole plant
Detailed section views for each part of the process
Interlock and sequence feedback, so operators can see why plant is running, waiting or held off
Sequence and process control
Alarms and data logging
Panel indicators, selectors and the touchscreen plant overview
One of the plant's compressor packages
The result
The plant runs automatically, with clear views of every section, sequence feedback for operators and logged data for the site team.
A failed, obsolete control board on an asphalt plant's filter replaced with a Mitsubishi FX5UC PLC, now controlling 48 valves across multiple cleaning sequences.
