KDR Automation

See what your plant is doing, including the old machines.

We connect machines, new and old, to SCADA and historian systems, so you can see running status, downtime and production data in one place, and produce the electronic records your customers and auditors ask for.

Ignition production dashboard showing daily production against target, line rates and power use

What we deliver

  • Ignition SCADA: plant overviews, alarms, trends and reports
  • Historians for process and production data
  • Electronic process and batch reporting
  • OEE and downtime dashboards
  • Connecting legacy machines with remote IO, Modbus TCP and MQTT
  • Integration with existing AVEVA PI and Wonderware systems

Recent work includes

  • Two-vessel process control on Siemens S7-1500 with WinCC Professional SCADA and electronic reporting
  • Front end, sequences, alarms and data logging for a 2,000 kW chilled water and glycol plant
  • A digital factory strategy to bring legacy equipment into a site historian
  • PI System and Wonderware work on regulated manufacturing sites

Start small

You do not need to connect the whole site at once. A proof of concept on a handful of machines shows which data is useful, and what it is worth, before you commit to more.

Platforms

  • Inductive Automation Ignition
  • AVEVA PI System
  • AVEVA Wonderware
  • Siemens
  • MQTT and Node-RED
  • Weidmüller UR20 remote IO

Common questions

Our machines are different ages and brands. Can they all be connected?

Usually. Modern PLCs connect directly. Older machines can be connected with remote IO or protocol gateways, or by reading signals that already exist, such as running and fault lamps.

Why Ignition?

Ignition is licensed per server rather than per tag or per screen, which suits sites that want to grow without the licence cost growing with them. We also work with existing AVEVA systems.

Can it run securely on our network?

Yes. We work with your IT team on network segmentation, user access and remote access, and keep control networks separate from office systems where possible.

Can we start with a few machines?

Yes, and we recommend it. A small pilot proves which data is useful before you scale up.
